Trying Sophie

by Rebecca Norinne Dublin Rugby #1 Publication Date: December 6, 2016 Genres: Adult, Contemporary, Romance, Rugby, Sports Romance

She doesn't date players...
Sophie loves her life: she's travelled the world and lived by her own rules. But when she finds out about her grandfather's heart attack, she drops everything and boards a plane to Ireland. Two weeks, that's the plan. Until one look at her childhood nemesis has her rethinking everything. She's sworn off athletes, but she might just give him a try...
He's the biggest player of all.
Sex and rugby. Those were the only two things Declan cared about, right up until his first love waltzed back into his life. Even as he slept his way through Dublin, he never stopped thinking about her. Never stopped wondering if she thought about him, too. So even though he's never gone after a woman the way he chases down opponents on the field, this time, he won't let her get away.
On the field, he's invincible, but she just might break him.

My Review:
This is the first book I've ever read by Rebecca Norinne, and I absolutely loved it.  I'm a big fan of sports romances so when I saw a book about an Irish rugby player, I knew I had to read it.  It also helps that I'm strangely drawn to the name Declan. I have no idea why. haha!  I've had a serious case of wanderlust lately and this book really helped me satisfy that (or made it even worse! haha) with the way that the author goes into descriptive detail about the scenery, culture, and accents.

In the prologue, we meet Sophie as a shy young American girl trying to fit in in Ireland.  Declan was a bit of a jerk when they were kids and bullied her relentlessly, which Sophie took to heart because she had a crush on him.  So when they meet again later on in life Sophie tries to keep her distance, but Declan makes it really hard with his charm and good looks.

I REALLY loved both of these characters so much!  One of my favorite things about this one was that Declan really has to work hard to earn Sophie's trust again.  She's not one of those heroines that swoon as soon as they see an attractive athlete.  In fact, it was actually the male MC that was falling hard while the female MC was the one unwilling to commit, and that was really refreshing.

When these two get together the chemistry is off the charts.  There are some really sizzling scenes between the two of them, but I would say it's a slow burn to start with.  This book was a little longer than I expected, but it is so worth it.  And the ending left a huge smile on my face.  I will definitely be keeping a lookout for more books by Rebecca Norinne in the future.

** I received an ARC of this title in exchange for an honest review.  All opinions are my own.  **

Rebecca read her first book when she was four years old and has been hooked on the written word ever since. While working in technology PR in Silicon Valley, she began writing her debut novel and eventually published it six years later. At the end of 2014, she left behind her career in corporate communications to become a full time author. When she's not writing, you can find Rebecca exploring her new city of Dublin, Ireland, watching Leinster Rugby matches, or traveling the globe searching for inspiration for her next book.

  1. I'm so glad you loved reading Declan and Sophie's story as much as I loved writing it! Thanks so much for taking the time to share your thoughts with your readers.

    1. I didn't want this one to end, I loved it so much! Thank you for allowing me the ARC (thru Indiesage)! Can't wait to read more from you!

  2. I do like some sports romances - and I hadn't heard of this one, so thanks so much for sharing! I love the name Declan too. :)

    1. haha I'm glad I'm not the only one that loves that name! I've read a ton of hockey, football, and baseball romances but not too many rugby ones so that definitely had me intrigued.
