Top Ten Best Books of 2016

Tuesday, December 27, 2016

I am linking up today at The Broke and the Bookish's link up "Top Ten Tuesday".  They have a different topic every week and it's a lot of fun to meet some new bloggers and find a bunch of new books to add to my list!  This week's topic is: Top Ten Best Books of 2016 (regardless of publishing date).

I had to look back through my Goodreads Challenge to find my highest ratings for the year.  It's hard for me not to overthinking things, so I listed the ones that I can remember sticking with me for a while.  A lot of mine happened to be published before 2016, but I didn't read them until this year.  I was on a big time MM Romance kick if you couldn't tell. LOL!  I'm really excited to see everyone else's lists!

(all links go to Goodreads description)

Have you read any of these? What were some of your favorites from 2016?

  1. I don't read the MM or contemporary genres so I know nothing about the books you mentioned, other than knowing who Rainbow Rowell is! I still wanted to say hi though! *waves*

  2. Oh, I read and ADORED Him this year as well <3 Wes and Jamie were such lovable characters! I loved the sequel, Us, as well though Him will always be my favorite of the two. And Carry On was one of my favorites of 2015 :)

    1. Him was SO GOOD!! I didn't enjoy Us quite as much but Him will definitely be a reread one day. lol! I really loved Carry On too. Most people scooped it up quick in 2015 but I didn't get around to reading it until the beginning of 2016.

    1. I really love Carry On too. I think I may be rereading it soon. When I was making this list it made me miss their world so I want to go back again. lol! I just saw the new cover recently. I don't love it as much as the original. I'm not even sure why but I like the simpler cover.

  6. I LOVED FOOL ME ONCE! If I remember correctly, I have it on my best adult romance novels list, which I'm publishing tomorrow. Katee Robert is one of my favorite adult romance authors, and for good reason. Same with Tessa Bailey. :D Have you read Robert's O'Malley series? I highly recommend those books!

    Wonderful list, Julie!

  7. I enjoyed a couple of Rainbow Rowell's other books - Attachments and Eleanor & Park but I don't like the genre that Carry On and Fangirl is in so I didn't get far with reading either of them.

    1. Yeah, Fangirl and Carry on are definitely in a different genre than Attachments. I still enjoyed them all but I can see how they wouldn't be for everyone. I haven't read Eleanor & Park yet, but I hear it's really good. I plan to read it in the new year.

  9. The only book I've read from here is Carry On... but I can't say it was my favourite Rowell Book. I definitely enjoyed Fangirl and Eleanor & Park, but I struggled a bit with Carry On.

    1. Sorry to hear you didn't enjoy it as much as the others. It is definitely different. I really enjoy fantasy too, so it was a winner for me. It's my favorite Rowell book now. I really liked Fangirl and Attachments too tho. I plan on reading Eleanor & Park in the new year.

    1. It was such a great book, and the first one I've read from Sarina Bowen. I had to get the sequel "Us" right after I finished it. I will definitely have to read more from her soon.
