Title: Long Shadows
Author: Kate Sherwood
Series: Common Law, #1
Genre: Mystery, MM Romance
Publisher: Riptide Publishing
Publication Date: January 2nd 2017
Find It Here: Goodreads, Amazon, Barnes & Noble

Synopsis:
LA cop Jericho Crewe got the hell out of Mosely, Montana, when he was seventeen. Fifteen years later, he’s back, and everything is just as messed up as when he left. He planned a quick visit to deal with his injured father, but of course things are never that simple. Family complications, police complications, social complications—and, as always, Wade Granger complications.

Jericho and Wade had been so close, once upon a time. First friends, then more than friends—and then, after Jericho’s escape, nothing. Wade’s magnetism hasn’t been lessened by a decade and a half apart; even when Jericho learns that Wade is the prime suspect in the death of Jericho’s father, the old connection still sparks.

When Jericho’s newly discovered half siblings are kidnapped, he needs to trust someone to help him find them. Wade’s a terrible choice, but Jericho’s never been known for his good judgment. Anyway, he’d rather make a bad decision with Wade than a good one with anybody else.

My Rating:
4 out of 5 stars

My Review:
I went into this one not realizing that it was going to be part of a series, and expecting a MM romance, but ended up with more of a mystery.  There was little to no romance in this one, so if you are looking for a steamy read then this is probably not the book for you.  If you are looking for a new series with a good mystery element then this is a good book for you.

Jericho is a man that comes from a rough past that tried to turn things around for himself.  His dad was always on the wrong side of the law, and he didn't want that life for himself so he left.  He now lives in LA and is a cop, but has been called back to his childhood town when he hears his father has been in an accident.  He believes in doing things by the book, but there is always one person that has messed with his resolve.  Wade.

Wade grew up with Jericho and was once his lover, but instead of following Jericho when he left town, he stayed.  He makes a living working on the other side of the law, including with Jericho's father.  I ended up really loving Wade's character.  You can never figure him out or tell what he's thinking.

I will definitely be picking up the next book in the series because Kate Sherwood hooked me and I really need to know what happens next....and I'm hoping to see Jericho and Wade get together! lol!  I went into this book expecting a romance and got a bit of a mystery instead, but I still really enjoyed and ended up reading it all in one sitting.

    1. I did enjoy the mystery element to this one, I think I just expected a little more of a romance (since it was listed as such on NetGalley).
