Popular Authors That I've Never Read

Thursday, March 2, 2017

I actually got this idea for a post from Rebel Mommy Book Blog. There are so many great authors that I haven't read anything from yet and would love to give them a try.

Kasie West
I am hoping to remove this one from my list very soon.  I just recently bought her book The Fill-In Boyfriend, so I just have to make time to read it.  Kasie West's name has been everywhere and people LOVE her so I have to see what all the hype is about. lol!  And there's the obvious fact that I'm a sucker for cute romances.

Sarah J. Maas
Hopefully I can remove this one from my list soon too.  I bought A Court of Thorns and Roses AND A Court of Mist and Fury with an Amazon Gift Card I got from Christmas.  I just saw that there are going to be 6 books in the series so that bums me out, but only because I have absolutely no patience and I hate waiting to find out what happens. lol!

Stephen King
Okay, this one is seriously shameful.  I know.  I must be living under a rock, right?  Horrible.  I'm actually a little embarrassed to admit this one. haha!  I REALLY want to read something from him, but I feel like it always gets pushed aside for a new release....and I don't even know what one to start with.  Any suggestions?

Liane Moriarty
I just heard recently that Big Little Lies is going to be turned into a limited series on HBO this year, and I still haven't read the book!  I'm one of those people that HAS TO read the book first.  I feel like it's ruined if I don't.

Leigh Bardugo
I mean, seriously?!  How have I not read anything from her yet??  I feel like her books have been waiting on my TBR forever.

Have you read anything from these authors?  Which one do you think I should start with??

  1. Ooh Leigh Bardugo is one of my FAVOURITE authors!! Her Six of Crows series is basically everything. <3 I haven't read any Stephan King either though, haha, so you're not alone there. And I also haven't ever read Sarah Dessen, although I feel like I should have because she's a pretty big name YA author!

    1. I haven't read anything from Sarah Dessen either so you aren't alone! lol! I am definitely going to have to read something from all these on my list soon because I hear so much about them all the time.

  2. On Stephen King, IT is my favourite but it is long and has a complex story. I'd start with Carrie, one of the shorter books and it is a good read, or maybe 'Salems Lot which has nice short chapters. Christine is also a nice easy read.

    1. Thank you so much for the suggestions! I think one of the main reasons I hadn't read anything from him yet is because I was overwhelmed with all his titles and didn't know where to start. I will check one of these ones out...maybe Carrie! =)

  3. Kasie West is such a great adorable author. I loved the Fill In Boyfriend but also suggest Pivot Point. I love Liane Moriarty and Big Little Lies is her best. I also loved The Husbands Secret and What Alice Forgot.

  4. I did a list like this as well and Leigh Bardugo was on mine as well! I know people rave about her books but I just haven't found the time to get around them yet! I read my first Kasie West book last month but wasn't massively impressed. I think I might have chose the wrong book to start on really though, because I've heard some amazing things about her other books!

    1. Ohhh I remember seeing your post too! I definitely want to give Leigh Bardugo a try because everyone is raving about those books and they sound really good. Sorry to hear you didn't love the Kasie West book. That's a bummer. I've been hearing that P.S. I Like You is her best one but I haven't picked it up yet.

  6. Does it make you feel any better to know that I am (mostly) right there with you? I listed to one Kasie West book and read maybe 2 Stephen King books but not until the past couple of years. I own quite a few of the other books you showed but have found time for them yet.

    1. Yes, it actually does! haha! I own a couple of the ones on y list so I'm hoping I can knock those ones off soon. I'm sure I could find something from Stephen Kings at a book sale. He has so many! lol

  7. I'M NOT THE ONLY ONE WHO HASN'T READ KASIE WEST!! Well actually, I've read ONE of her novels, but it wasn't one of her contemporary romances that she's famous for haha. I haven't read Stephen King or Moriarty either.

As for Leigh Bardugo and Sarah J Maas, they're some of my auto buy authors!! I love all the worlds and characters they create so much.

    1. hahaha yayyy I'm not alone!!

I have some Sarah J Maas but haven't worked them into my reading schedule quite yet. I'm definitely going to try to next month. And I'm definitely going to have to pick up Leigh Bardugo too!

  8. I also haven't read Kasie West but I feel like I must!

I'm a HUGE SJM fan - try it out! I hope you love it! ACOTAR - there's only 3 books! The other 3 will be a companion series I believe, so don't let that get you down!

I need to read Moriarty still and I DEFINITELY need to read Bardugo.

Hopefully we get to some of these authors soon!!!

    Great post!

    1. I feel like I need to read Kasie West too! So many people have been going crazy for her books.

I have the first two books from ACOTAR, so as soon as I finish Cinder I will have to start this series next.

      Thanks Di!

  9. I just recently read my first Stephen King book so no shame, really. I read Revival and it was okay. I'm hoping to read Shining next 'cause it's possibly the most popular one. I want to read IT but the number of pages puts me off especially since I've seen the film.
I read Big Little Lies by Liane Moriaty and LOVED it! I'm really hoping to read her other books soon!

and I want to do a post like this as well!! :D

    1. I'm glad I'm not the only Stephen Kind newbie out there. I didn't realize that It was sooo long until I looked it up. Someone suggested I start with Carrie or Salem's Lot, so I think I'll start there.

I think I will start with Big Little Lie by Liane Moriarty first because everyone seems to love that one.

You should definitely do a post like this! I would love to check it out, so if you do, send me the link!

  10. Kasie West's a surprising one! She's all over the place. To be honest, I love her contemp romances but I think her science fiction contemps are her best ones.

The good news about Maas is that she writes fast! I mean she writes both series and usually gets one of each out per year. Or maybe I just have more patience because of George R. R. Martin, lol.

I've never read a full King book! I tried to read one about a dragon but I was still like "this dude is too much for me"

AAAH LEIGH BARDUUUGO. I love her books so much. But no pressure loll ;)

    1. I didn't even know that Kasie West wrote science fiction until someone else mentioned it. lol! I am hoping to read The Fill-In Boyfriend within the next month or so.

I own ACOTAR books 1&2 but haven't gotten to start them yet. I would love to start her other series too one day, but that one is a little more daunting because she already has quite a few books in the series. I have a lot of catching up to do there. lol. And YAY for fast writers! My husband STILL complains about George RR Martin...I think most people have given up, but not him lol

haha! I'm curious to see how I will like Stephen King. He's just so huge that I'm a little worried about the hype.

lol! Everyone has been suggesting Leigh Bardugo to me, so I'm going to have to pick up something one day.

    1. I really want to read Big Little Lies because everyone seems to love it. Same goes for Leigh Bardugo and Kasie West's books. I have a feeling I'll really like Kasie West because I like cute romances. lol!

  12. I want to read more of Kasie West's books after reading P.S. I Like You! It was just SO CUTE! I've read all of the others except for Stephen King! I'm not the biggest Sarah J. Maas fan. I liked A Court of Thorns and Roses, but wasn't super in love with it and only got halfway through the second book.

    1. I definitely want to get my hands on P.S. I Like You! I haven't heard one bad review for it yet. Everyone seems to love it, and it sounds so cute! I've heard from a few people that they didn't love Sarah J. Maas, and then other people are absolutely crazy about her. lol! We'll see how it goes, I guess.
