Life Lately:
Today is April Fool's Day!  I never really got into this holiday too much.  I really hate when people pull pranks on me so it's not my favorite. lol!  Do you pull any April Fool's jokes/pranks on people on April 1st?

I have been a major slacker around blog land lately.  Normally I try to catch up with everyone's new posts and comment on other blogs like crazy, but this week I just couldn't find the time.  My kiddo was still sick all week.  She had a fever for 6 days!  That's crazy to me.  Then it finally broke, only for her to have a really low temperature the next day.  Sometimes I think she just really like to worry me and keep me on my toes.  The runny nose and cough seem to be getting better now so that's good.  I also had another bad migraine week, so that made it pretty hard to function.

On a happy note, I just got approved for my first two titles on Edelweiss! lol!  I normally use NetGalley, but I thought I would give Edelweiss a try.  I swear they have been turning me down for about two months on everything I've requested. lol!

  1. I have never liked April Fools Day and find it all a gigantic waste of time! I've never seen the point in idiotic pranks, a lot of which go way too far and get people hurt. Just call me Scrooge...I'm glad your daughter is finally on the mend-what a horrible few weeks you both had. Hopefully next week will be better for you health wise.

    1. haha I'm the same way. Definitely not an April Fool's person.

And thank you, we are all doing a lot better right now and I'm hoping next week is better. I feel like I need to sleep for a week after the past couple weeks we've had. lol!

  2. Not an April Fool's person either. Sorry your daughter was sick. It is the worst when your kids doesn't feel well. EW is great especially for Harper titles. Hope you have a great week!!!

    1. It's definitely a horrible time when the kiddo is sick. I am already an anxious person, so when she's sick I get even more nervous/anxious. It didn't help that she had the fever for so long. I felt so bad for her. I did notice that EW had a lot of Harper titles. Hopefully after I get a few reviews with them under my belt they will start to approve more of my requests. lol! Thanks, Grace! Hope you have a great week too!

  3. This Savage Song is on my wishlist :) Hope you'll enjoy!
I'm not really an April Fool's person either. I don't like pulling pranks and don't like when I'm the subject of a prank. Yet strangely enough, I love the Weasley twins, who love nothing more :)
Sorry your daughter was sick, hope she's doing better now!

    1. I'm really excited about This Savage Song. I've heard so many great things about it and it's been on my TBR/Wishlist for so long. I scooped it up as soon as I got an email about the deal. lol

haha! I love those Weasley boys too, but I hate pranks in real life. Go figure! lol

Thank you! She seems to be doing much better now. Hopefully it stays that way. Hope you have a great week!

  4. I hadn't heard about The Witch's Kiss but that is definitely on my TBR now. That's a pretty intriguing cover.

I really liked This Savage Song! Monsters and mayhem and kids with music. It's very unique, I think. I hope you enjoy.

I also am not a fan of April Fools Day. I am super glad I was off today because that means I get to avoid it pretty much entirely, lol.

I hope your next week calms down! It seems like once it starts off hectic there's no catching up. I know that feeling.

Congrats on edelweiss! I had a hard time first cracking it so good job!

    Have a good week :)

    1. The cover is what hooked me with The Witch's Kiss too! lol!

I have heard so many great things about This Savage song and it's been waiting on my TBR list for a long time, so when I saw it was on sale I had to scoop it up. Thanks, I'm super excited about it

April Fool's day is the worst. It's just an excuse for people to be mean to each other now. I was lucky that not too many have ever pulled the pranks on me but I remember some cruel ones when I was younger.

Thanks so much! I'm definitely hoping for a better week. These past two have been a little crazy.

I'm hoping that after I get a couple reviews in for Edelweiss that maybe I'll start getting approved for more. lol!

Hope you have a great week too!

  5. I am sorry to hear that your daughter has been sick for so long. Poor baby. April Fools is really no big deal for me anymore especially since today was a Saturday. I just stayed home and didn't have to worry about people trying to trick me. Congrats on getting your first Edelweiss approvals. I like Edelweiss but have review a ton more books through NetGalley. Enjoy all of your new books!

    1. She is doing a lot better now. She still has a little bit of a cough but her nose seems to be drying out. I'm hoping this means it's one it's way out of her system now. She wants to go outside and play so bad! And thanks! I'm hoping that if I get some of these books reviewed and "turned in" then I will start to get accepted for more on Edelweiss. Hope you have a great week!

  6. I don't like when people pull pranks on me either, so I'm not the biggest April Fool's Day fan. I'm sorry your daughter has been sick. I hope she gets better soon!

  8. I am not into April Fool's Day either, although I was tempted to pretend it was a school day for my six year old's sake this morning. I chickened out. I tend to take a vacation day on April 1st if it is a work day--I just don't want to deal with the pranks, you know?

I am so sorry to hear your daughter has been sick, and then you with a migraine. I hope you are both feeling better now.

The Witch's Kiss sounds like something I might like.

I hope you have a great week!

    1. Ugghhh I hate the pranks! lol! When I was a retail manager everyone used to love pranking each other and it drove me crazy! When I left retail and went in to the medical office field, I was so happy that it didn't seem to be a think there. lol! Right now I'm a stay at home mom so I don't have to worry about it too much. lol

We both seem to be doing a lot better, thank you so much! My daughter just has a lingering cough but her nose has dried up and no more fever. Yayy!

Witch's Kiss sounds like it's going to be a good one, so I'm really excited! I love the cover

Hope you have a great week too!

  9. I completely forgot it was April fools day because of all the flooding nearby! So now I get confused by all the jokes haha. Plus it's my sister's birthday so I tend to associate the day with that more than anything.

I have This Savage Song on my TBR too! I hope we both enjoy it :D

    1. Sorry to hear that you've had flooding around you. That's horrible. I see some of the scary flash flood videos online sometimes. Happy belated birthday to your sister! That's definitely something nicer to focus on than silly April Fool's Day.

I've heard great things about This Savage Song, so when I saw it on sale I had to scoop it up!

Hope you have a great week!

  10. I just sent a harmless prank, telling my friend that our favorite clothes designer has now taken on men. Just a little funny!

  12. Julie, I have had much the same experience with Edelweiss. I get turned down all the time, but this past month, I was approved for three books! Go figure. I have This Savage Song but haven't read it yet. Have fun with all your books.

    1. I have heard a lot of people say that they get turned down on Edelweiss a lot. lol! But I've also heard that if you stick with them for a while and keep up with ARCs that they will auto-approve you for certain publishers. That would be both really awesome and really bad. lol! I would get sooo carried away with ARCs if I was auto-approved. Thanks so much, Hope you have a great week!

  13. Six days does sound extreme. I hope she's feeling better! I actually have much better luck with Edelweiss over Netgalley. Lol. Funny how that goes. I'm auto-approved by several publishers on EW, so they are my go-to site. Happy reading!

    1. My daughter is feeling much better now, thank you so much! She's back to her usual self now. That's so funny how Edelweiss and NetGalley are different for everyone. lol. I can definitely understand why you would go for Edelweiss if you are auto-approved. That's great! I would probably want everything tho. haha!

  14. I do not understand April Fool's Day! I don't think it exists where my parents are from, so I never grew up with it, and I remember being in elementary school and just not understanding April Fool's... I hate pranks and jokes! No thank you!

I'm so sorry to hear about your kiddo still being sick! Hopefully things will turn around this week.

I hope you enjoy your new books! Have a lovely week, Julie. =)

My daughter is, thankfully, doing so much better now. She is back to her usual self. That was a crazy virus.

Hope you are having a great week too, Alyssa!

  15. I completely agree with you about April Fools Day, I hate being pranked! I've just stumbled across your blog and have seen your goodreads challenge, you've already read 57 books this year?! That is absolutely incredible!! I don't know how on earth you've managed to do that but all I can think of is you must be superwoman! You have a lovely blog btw <3 xxx
