Life Lately:
This week NetGalley surprised me by approving a couple titles (Words on Bathroom Walls and Words in Deep Blue) that I had requested quite a while ago.  I just assumed that I wasn't going to get them. lol!  I've been wanting to read Dark Matter for a long time, and just recently saw it on Blogging for Books and had to get it.  I'm excited about that one because so many people said it was really good, and it's really different than what I've been reading lately.  I found Mr. Mercedes and The Widow at our little local library for sale for only $2 a piece so I had to scoop those up.  I also donated two big bags of books.

Last week I mentioned that I had lots of spring cleaning type of projects to do.  I didn't get to start the sorting in the basement but I did get the landscaping in the front of our house done.  It looks soo nice!  I'm glad it's finally finished.  Hopefully this week I can start some of the other things I wanted to get done.

The weather around here has been absolutely beautiful.  I'm loving it.  My daughter and I have been having watergun battles, creating art with sidewalk chalk, and chasing bubbles outside. lol!  My husband has just started trying to teach her to ride a bike too!  Fun stuff!

  1. Oh lots of good additions this week!! I wish Netgalley would approve some of my long standing requests lol!! I feel like I always miss books on Blogging for books. I need to check there more often. Yay for nice weather. We have been trying to get outside a lot too. Have a great week!

    1. hahaha Yeah, I still have quite a few really old request just hanging out on NetGalley. I feel like I miss a lot of the great books on Blogging for Books too. They recently had The Dinner, but I missed it. I've been wanting to read that one because it's going to be a movie soon. lol Now that it's the weekend and my husband is off, it's pouring outside. lol Always happens that way. Hope you have a great week too!

  2. I'm dreading getting out to work in the garden. When my dad finishes the prep work we'll be getting the garden stones and gravel to go around the plants and the patio that we laid last year in the back garden, plus new stones and de-weeding the front garden. Groan! I'm dreading it! I hate the work but it'll be worth it when it's done!

    1. I'm sure it will look really awesome when it's done! I have a hard time finding motivation to start projects too, especially indoor projects. I think after being cooped up in the house all winter, I was dying to get outside for a while so that's probably why I was actually motivated to do the landscaping.

    1. YESSSS!! lol! I've been hearing such great things about it. It's not my usual type of book but I like to mix things up every once in a while. Thanks Angela!

  4. I have had some very late approvals on NetGalley. They kind of throw off your reading schedule. I liked Dark Matter a lot and look forward to your thoughts. Great deal on the sale books from your library. Have a great week!

    1. They really do throw off the schedule a bit. lol! I'm very appreciative for getting them don't get me wrong, but they definitely throw off my schedule sometimes when they wait so long to approve them. I'm really excited about Dark Matter. I've heard nothing but good things about it. Thanks Carole! Hope you have a great week too!

    1. Thanks so much! We all love being outside. We get a bad case of cabin fever throughout the winter and then practically live outdoors in the spring/summer/fall. lol! Hope you have a great week too!

  6. Late NG approvals drive me crazy, especially if the release date is close. But yay for getting Words in Deep Blue! That was one of my favorite books last year. It was poignant and all kinds of amazing. The weather has been lovely here too and I'm excited for the warm weather! I hope you have a good week ahead! :)
    Happy reading!

    1. I'm really excited for Words in Deep Blue, it sounds super good! I'm always appreciative of my ARCs but it does throw my schedule of a bit when they are super close, and it makes me super anxious because I want to get it read in time. lol I think I jinxed myself with the talk of great weather. We are actually under a tornado watch right now, EEK! I love watching storms tho. lol. Hope you have a great week too!

  7. Dark Matter, Mister O and The Widow are calling my name. They sound awesome. I hope you enjoy them. Anyway, glad to hear that you had a great week. The weather here is great too. I'm hoping to redecorate the house.
I hope you have another great week. Happy reading, Julie. :)

    1. Thanks so much! I always get the urge to switch things up around the house right after the cold weather leaves. lol! I will settle just for getting everything organized again tho. I struggled with my migraines so much over the winter that I really dropped the ball around the house. Hope you have a great week too! Happy reading!

  8. I bought Dark Matter and Mr. Mercedes last year and still haven't touched them since. I envy spring weather whenever people talk about it. We don't have spring on my place. In fact, it's currently summer and it's so hot whenever I go out of the house.

Hope you have a great week ahead, Julie!

    1. haha that's probably what I'm going to be doing with the "just bought" books too. I always bury myself under a pile of ARCs so deep that I can't find time for other books. I really love the change of the seasons around here. I'm not crazy about cold weather/winter but it would feel weird to live somewhere where it was warm on Christmas day, I think. lol.

Hope you have a great reading week too!

  10. Dark Matter is still available for review? Wow. I thought it was long gone and now only available to buy. Awesome!
And I totally love it when NetGalley does that. I requested a few books on Friday night as well.. Stupid timing, when you realize you're going to have to wait the entire weekend to find out if you got approved for at least one :D
And ooh! Didn't know Blogging For Books existed :) awesome, thanks for sharing!

    1. haha yeah, I was surprised when I saw it on Blogging for books too! I think it's because they released a new cover. I also heard that it may be a movie, so maybe that's why?? Not sure, but I jumped on the chance! lol.

I love the surprise of getting approved for books that you already assumed you weren't getting, but sometimes when they wait a little too long it throws off my schedule a bit and makes me anxious. lol.

Blogging for Books is nice because you can get a physical copy of the book for review!

  11. Yay for net galley approvals!! I still haven't done the landscaping stuff I need to do. I did finally find a set of clippers though so at least its a start!
Enjoy your books! I grabbed Mr. O too-for 99 cents you can't pass that up!

    1. Yes, yayyyy!! I really didn't expect to be approved after all that time but hey, I'm not complaining. I still have to do a little bit of landscaping in the back yard (just some trimming of the bushes) but it shouldn't take long. I just need to wait for another nice day.

I definitely couldn't pass up Mister O for 99cents! lol!

Hope you haven't a great week too!

  12. Dark Matter was pretty awesome I thought, so hope you like it! And yay for nice weather! It's been so rainy here but we did get a few nice days in the 70's. I need more!

    Have a great week!

I may have jinxed myself on the weather, we currently are on a tornado watch. lol! Right now it's just REALLY windy and raining super hard. No hail or thunder so that's probably good.

Hope you have a great week too!

  13. I want to read Dark Matters, I think it would be one that I would enjoy. Great deals at your library, I need to check mine more often. I'm so envious of your nice weather, we had a snow storm pass through and my tulips didn't hold up. Enjoy your reads and have a wonderful week.

    1. Oh no, poor tulips! We had an overnight frost that killed our daffodils and tulips but then it stayed warm enough for our azalea bushes to bloom. I wished they lasted longer, they are so pretty. Hope you have a great week too!

  15. The weather has been simply amazing here! No surprise, since we are fairly close geographically. :D I hate it when publishers take foreeeeeeeever to approve (or decline) a request on NetGalley! Especially when the publication date is right around the corner!

I hope you enjoy all of your new books! Have a wonderful week, Julie. =)

    1. Yeah, sometimes the late approvals throw my schedule all out of whack and it stresses me out. Even though I requested these two quite a while ago, I still have a decent amount of time to read them. Thank goodness! lol

Hope you have a great week too, Alyssa!

  16. Water gun fights? I am a little jealous, haven't had one of those in a good long while. Sounds like you've been keeping yourself busy, though, glad to hear the landscaping went well.

Don't you love when you've convinced yourself you're not getting a book on Netgalley and then end up getting it? It feels more exciting somehow.

Have a good week and enjoy you're new reads.

    1. hahaha yeah, got to love squirt gun battles! One of the perks of having a little one is that you get to relive your childhood over again in some ways. We just played hop scotch the other day too. lol

I was super excited to see that they approved me. When I saw the emails waiting I assumed it was the automated message that says you were declined, that sometimes comes when they take the listing down. So I was very pleasantly surprised. lol

Hope you have a great week too, Happy reading!
