I am linking up again this weekend with Tynga at Tynga's Reviews for Stacking the Shelves and Kimberly at Caffeinated Book Reviewer for Sunday Post to share all of the books I picked up lately, share my posts for the past week, and also share what's coming up soon!

Life lately:
I fell a little behind with keeping up with other blogs and commenting this week, but by the end I caught back up again.  It's been an interesting week.  My mom ended up in the ER because she twisted her knee, and ended up tearing something inside.  My father-in-law just lost his furbaby (15 year old cat), and he's been really down.  Sooo not too much great news, I guess....other than me getting a kid free night out with one of my friends tonight!  We aren't going too crazy.  She's just showing me her new house, but it's nice to get out and catch up sometimes.

I didn't go too crazy with books this week.  I saw Blood Guard and immediately requested it because Megan Erickson is one of my absolute favorite romance authors.  I may or may not have done a little celebratory dance when I was approved....don't judge! lol

My husband and I finally sat down a planned a quick little weekend getaway for ourselves.  He has a full week of vacation, and we have someone to watch our daughter for two nights, so we wanted to try for some nice alone time.  I'm so excited about the place we picked because: it's close so if something comes up we can get back to our daughter fairly quickly, it's a place that I've always wanted to stay, and it's surrounded by the outdoors.  I'm not sure if I've mentioned it before but I LOVE the outdoors.  We are going to go hiking, biking, and maybe kayaking!  I'm so excited!!  We also plan to take our daughter to a fun water park before we go.

  2. Sounds like a bad week overall but at least you have a getaway to look forward to. That sounds like fun! I admit that I've never done the outdoor or camping things...I'm paranoid about spiders in the tent and Serial killers lurking in the woods!

    1. We aren't actually camping this time. We are going to be staying in a nice hotel near all of the outdoorsy stuff. lol! We need to get a few more things before we can go camping again. I'm definitely not a fan of bugs in my sleeping space either. lol! I never really thought about the serial killers...but I might now! LOL My biggest fear is always falling trees.

Yay for a fun weekend away planned. That's great! So is a kid free night with your friend. :)

  4. I'm glad I am not the only one who has a victory dance for ARC approvals :) I am sorry about your mom though. That sounds painful. And I am sorry to hear your father in law lost his fur baby. I am so attached to my fur children that I will be inconsolable when they pass.
I'm so glad you and the hubby will have a little away time! Although, all those out doorsy things you mentioned make me shiver in horror.
    Have a great week!

    1. My husband laughs at me every time I do my little happy dance over ARCs. lol! It's okay because I do the same thing every time he's excited about video games. haha

Thank you! My mom is doing okay right now. Just ordered to rest it and make an appointment with a specialist. We'll see how that goes. My father in law is so sad. I feel awful

hahaha! We were also considering doing some white water rafting. That one does make me a little nervous because I'm not the strongest swimmer but it's something I always wanted to try.

Thanks, Samantha! Hope you have a great week too!

    1. Thank you so much. For now she's been told to rest it and has to use a cane to walk around, but she has an appointment with a specialist this week to see where to go from there. I feel really awful for my father in law. He's been so quiet and sad.

      Thanks Jovita!

  10. Sorry about your mom and father in law. Sounds like your weeks been a bit rough, but yay for holiday planning. A couple of days away being active and in the outdoors sounds good and a little time away is always nice.

Some good books on here, I loved Truthwitch and I didn't know Megan Erickson had a new book coming out... I'll have to take a look.

    Have a good week.

  12. Love the sound of your vacation! I wish we had someplace close enough to us that we could do that sort of thing in a weekend---unfortunately it takes us many hours of driving to get anywhere pretty. :-)

    1. Aww that stinks that all of the pretty places are a little far from you. I'm a big fan of the mountains here in PA, but I'm a sissy about the winters. lol!

  14. Oooh - Fairest! I'm totally going to get my buddy review of Scarlet done ASAP so we can continue with Cress! I love that cover!! Also I really want to read Truthwitch.

I'm glad you got caught up on all the bloggish stuff last week - I'm still a bit behind but I'm getting there! At least now that I'm back in a 'normal' environment I shouldn't have the 7 or so days lag that had become my usual over the past couple of months!

I'm so sorry to hear about your mom's knee!!! That's awful news! Is she okay? What's the healing process?

Your poor FIL too. What a crapy week, :( I hope you managed to have a lot of fun catching up with friends.

Your trip away sounds like it's going to be AMAZING! I hope you have the BEST time. When are you going?

Hope you're having a lovely week this week so far!
