Life Lately:
I had REALLY bad migraines week this past week.  I had an ocular migraine on Father's Day, and ended up in bed for the rest of the day.  Monday I was migraine free, but after that I had a 3 day long migraine that didn't let up until Friday morning.  It was horrible.  I almost went to the ER for help with the pain.  I tried my 1st appointment with a chiropractor and massage therapist, and felt REALLY good afterwards.  I think I will try to keep a regular schedule with those types of appointments and see if it helps keep them away.  I have my piercing appointment later today so which me luck! lol!  I mentioned last week that I am getting a piercing in the cartilage of my ear (called a daith piercing) because a lot of people have said it helps migraines.  I'm willing to try anything at this point. lol!

I have A LOT of  catching up to do on my blog.  I barely got to do anything blog-wise since the migraines kicked my butt yet again.

Oh on a random note, yesterday we had a tornado that touched down about 10 minutes from where I live!  I love watching storms but I don't think I want to be that close to a tornado.  We live in an area that tornadoes really aren't common at all.  We've been having such crazy weather lately.  I think the storms have been part of the reason that my migraines have been kicking my butt so bad.

  2. Playing with her Heart looks great. I actually just went and downloaded it on Amazon - I can't resist a free eBook!

I'm sorry to hear about your migraines. I've been lucky enough to never have them, but one of my roommates in college used to get the worst migraines. She actually got the daith piercing and I'm pretty sure it did help her so fingers crossed it works for you. Don't know if you tried this, but she also would use Johnson's Soothing Vapor Bath. It wasn't a cure but it helped sooth them to a point.

    1. Yayy, glad you were able to scoop it up for free too. I'm a sucker for those freebies. I can't say no!

Thank you so much! You are so sweet. I'm really hoping the daith piercing is going to help, but we'll see. I actually have tried the Johnson's Soothing Vapor Bath it did seem to help a little bit some times. One of my husband's aunts sells Essential Oils and wants me to try some of that next. I'm willing to try just about anything at this point. haha

  3. The first ocular migraine I had freaked me out. I thought I was having a stroke or something. Totally scary. Thank goodness for the internet on that one. I hope the piercing helps with your migraines. Migraines and tornadoes -- you had quite a week! I hope the next one is migraine free with clear skies.

    1. I did too!! I rushed to to the ER thinking I had a brain aneurysm or was having a stroke or something. lol! It's still really scares me, but at least I know I'm not dying. It definitely wasn't the best week. I'm really hoping this week goes a little more smoothly. lol! Thanks, Sam!

    1. Some of my friends have gotten a migraine before but I had never heard of chronic migraine or ocular migraines until I got the diagnosis. So frustrating. I've been on the hunt for things that help since I was first diagnosed about 3 and a half years ago. I've tried sooo many things. Hopefully this helps...at least a little bit!

  6. Yikes that's a little too close for comfort with the tornado! I love watching storms too, they're awesome, but not when they get THAT bad lol. Hope the piercing helps with the migraines. It's so weird how science hasn't figured out how to solve these problems yet, you know? What are all those scientists doing??

Hope you have a better week ahead!

    1. What is really strange about the tornado was that the storm near me didn't seem really crazy or our of the ordinary. Just some heavy rain and lightning/thunder...and a few wind gusts, but not as much as I would have thought. So weird. I guess it wasn't too bad of a tornado...only a few houses and barns were damaged. And trees down of course.

Thank you so much! I'm really hoping the chiro appt/massage therapy/piercing combo helps a bit. I was just saying the same thing about how I thought it was crazy that there isn't a real cure for them yet. They still don't even really know what causes them. It's frustrating

Hope you have a great week too!

  7. Oh, wow! That's awful about your migraines! I hope the piercing helps. Tornadoes sound exciting to watch as long as they're not too close or do any damage. We never get intense weather like that here in Southern California, but we do get earthquakes every once in a while which are not fun in any way.

    1. Thank you so much! I'm really hoping some of the things I've been trying for the migraines help. I definitely need something to work.

And yes, I am a big fan of storms but it gets a little scary when the storm get so big and they are close to home. Earthquakes would really scare me. We had a tiny little quake that lasted only a second or two around here. It was such a weird feeling.

  8. Oh goodness, I am so sorry to hear about your migraines! Hopefully you can get more relief as you see specialists. Tornadoes are SO cool but I would never want to live near one, like you said. O_O

OMG good call with the Lauren Blakely book! I'm off to Amazon to "buy" a copy.

I hope you enjoy all of your new books! Have a wonderful weekend. =)

    1. I'm really hoping this new piercing, along with the chiro and massage therapy will help me out a bit. I need something to work!

Having a tornado so close was a little scary but it was so weird that the storm didn't really seem all that bad around us. We had some heavy rain, thunder/lightning, a wind gusts but nothing too crazy.

So glad you were able to get a copy of the Lauren Blakely book too! I was so excited to see it for free!

Hope you have a great week too! Thanks, Alyssa!

  9. I'm really sorry to hear about the migraines. They sound AWFUL. There's this Chinese balm called Tiger Balm that they sell on Amazon that provides temporary relief to migraines by basically cooling your head. Have you tried that? It has a strong herbal smell, but the thing is really effective. I use it for almost everything.

I like the idea of tornadoes, but I also know I'd probably pee my pants if I happen to be anywhere around one. We got a tornado warning one time when I was living in Denver, and I was stressed out. Everyone yelled at me to be chill!

I just read my first Lauren Blakely book last night and I had a lot of fun. I'm going to go get this one you got too! Sounds like fun! :)

I hope you have a lovely week, Julie.

    1. Thank you so much! I have heard of Tiger Balm but I've never thought to use it for migraine. I will definitely have to give that a try next time. Thanks for the suggestion! I appreciate that.

hahaha yeah, I was getting nervous when I heard it was close. Especially when I heard the alarms go off at the fire station. lol!

So glad you enjoyed your first Lauren Blakely read, and that you were able to snatch up the free one too!

Hope you have a great week too!

  10. Oh wow, those are really bad migraines :/ I understand so well, I have gone through so many. I have found that sometimes mine are caused by a stiff neck (hence the massage helping), but they can also be caused by even a minor or latent infection in my tonsils/sinuses, cause the nerve goes into your ear, eye and nose. Unblocking the sinus sometimes helps. Also massaging right below where the, hm, bones of your skull join up with your neck.
Anyway. Keep holding up and have a great reading week!

    1. Yeah, I've been suffering with chronic migraine for about 3 and a half years now, and have tried so many things to help with it. All I can do is keep trying different things to see if they help. It's really frustrating tho.

Thank you so much! I hope you have a great week too!

  11. I actually heard the same thing about that piercing so fingers crossed for you because migraines are the actual worst. You can do nothing but hope painkillers take the edge off and wait for them to end. I'd be interested to hearing your experience and the piercing looks cool as well so if it hurts I want to know so I won't get it.

    1. Thank you so much! I really hope it works. And you are so right, they gave me painkillers for when I get the migraines but they only take the edge off and then you just have to wait it out. It's so frustrating and painful! I don't think the piercing really hurt. I went in expecting it to be really bad but honestly the only thing I felt was a lot of pressure. Everyone is different tho, I guess. Hope it isn't bad for you if you decide to give it a try

  13. I am so sorry to hear about your migraines. Those are just horrible to deal with. Scary about the tornado. We had a category 4 tornado hit our subdivision a few years ago. We even had FEMA come knock on our door we were so close. It really makes you appreciate how serious weather can be. Glad you stayed safe! Have a great (migraine-free) week!

    1. Thanks Carole! These migraines have really been kicking my butt lately. I really need something to work when it comes to preventing them. I'm hoping the chiro/massage and piercing combo will help, at least a little bit. I guess the tornado around us wasn't too bad. The only things it damaged were a few rooftops, some barns, and trees. A category 4 would be really scary!
