What you can expect in August:
I'm going to be changing this up a little bit in August.  I've made myself a tentative reading list for the month (which I will be posting tomorrow) and I've added a lot of my backlist books to the schedule.  I've tried really hard not to request any ARCs this past month, so I could catch up on the ones that I have and also check off some of the great looking books I already own.  I may not stick to my list 100% because I am a bit of a mood reader, but we'll see how it goes.

Another thing that's changed is that I'm going to be cutting back on Young Adult books in August.  I still have a couple mixed in but not as many as I normally do.  I have A LOT of romances coming up and a few fantasy ones as well.

I will also be trying to get some Top Ten Tues posts in (list posts) and some Waiting on Wednesday posts.  I have my art post scheduled for August already too!  I'm going to be sharing the Wonder Woman painting I just finished recently.  I'm still trying to figure out what I want to try next.  My ideas are: Beauty and the Beast, Harley Quinn, Joker, or Pride & Prejudice.  What do you think??

  1. You've had a great reading month! I love that you're a YA contemporary girl. :)
I've been reading mostly romances too, so a lot of my reviews for August are adult romances. I hope you have a good August! Ooh and I vote for P&P art work!

    1. Thanks, Nick! I'm excited for August because I feel like I've already gotten a little bit of a head start with blog posts/reading. Can't wait to check out your romance reviews! I've been on a big adult romance kick lately. lol! I've been wanting to do a P&P painting for a long time. I should just do it. lol

  2. I vote for Beauty and the Beast!! I've been debating trying to create a monthly TBR for myself, but I think it will be difficult because I rely so much on my library. It's hard to know when things will be available.

    1. A Beauty and the Beast painting would be so much fun. Especially if I added in a couple of the fun secondary characters. lol! Yeah, a TBR would definitely be hard to figure out when you aren't sure which books you can even get.

  3. What a great reading month! I'd love to do more backlist reading this month too, if I can swing it.

I vote Beauty and the Beast!!!

    1. haha Beauty and the Beast seems to be the popular pick so far! I feel like that one would be a lot of fun.

One of my big goals was to tackle my backlist so I'm trying to make it more of a priority for a while to see if I can cross some of them off of my list.

  4. I recently mapped out my entire month of August (reviews, interviews, etc.) and it's really helping keep me on track, which I sometimes need lol I'm excited to see more romance/fantasy reads on your blog! I've been starting to dive more into those genres so I'm always looking for good suggestions! Also, I'm following the bandwagon here - I vote Beauty and the Beast! haha

    1. I'm a big list person. lol! I write everything down. It feels so good to be able to cross things off of the list when I get them done too. I'm thinking that I'm going to have to go with Beauty and the Beast this time around. Everyone seems excited about that one. lol! I've been really enjoying romance lately

  5. I wish I could read this many books a month but I just have a hard time focusing if they aren't audiobooks nowadays...

    1. haha i think I may be the opposite. I'm worried that if I tried audiobooks I wouldn't be able to focus on them. I've really wanted to try tho. I think they would be great for when I'm doing things around the house like laundry, dishes, painting, etc.

  6. You've had an incredible reading month. So many books. I don't know how you do it. I keep meaning to read a Kasie West book but there's so many I don't know where to start haha. I hope August is just as wonderful as July has been.

    1. Thanks so much! I've always been a really fast reader. My husband thinks it's funny because he isn't so much. lol. There are a lot of Kasie West books out there. Everyone told me I should start with P.S. I Like You because it was her best. I own it but haven't gotten to read it yet.

  8. Oooh Harley Quinn! She's my favorite. Or The Joker. Those would be cool to see. I'm really limiting ARC accepts too because I have so many from ALA that I want to focus on. I don't have many e-books from Netgalley so that's nice! I have a couple left for August and then it's all September.

    1. I think Harley Quinn would be a ton of fun to paint. I will have to add her to my list to try. I feel like I'm starting to catch up very slowly but I really want to keep checking off books that are on my TBR list.

  9. I totally get the mood reading thing, since I'm that way too. Hope August is good for you with the backlist stuff!

Glad you'll be sharing more art! I would love to see Harley Quinn but I'm sure it will all be great!

    1. Thank you! I'm so glad that I'm not the only mood reader out there. If I try to force my way through a book, I end up not enjoying it that much so I don't think it's fair to do.

I am definitely going to have to paint Harley Quinn one of these days. She seems like she would be a lot of fun to try. And thank you so much!

  10. Wow, check out all those books! Looks like you had a good month. And it's good to change things up now and again. I know what you mean about being a mood reader and trying to set out a TBR list. I am taking part in a readathon this month and I have to set out a vague reading plan for that so fingers crossed it goes well.

    1. Thanks so much! I'm pretty happy with the July that I had. I'm trying to make this August even better but we'll see how it goes. lol! Mood reading is really tough! I feel like lately I've been in the mood for mostly romances so I decided to give in and do mostly those for the month of August. I've already checked a couple off of the list! I hope your readathon list goes well. I've been wanting to try joining one of those. One day lol

  13. Wow, what a great month! I hope August is an amazing one for you although I'm a little sad about you cutting back on the YA ;)

I still can't decide what I'd most like to see of your next art... Beauty and the Beast? P&P? Argh. Too hard to chose. 😊 I know whatever you do will be gorgeous!

Have a great month and happy reading!

    1. Thanks, Di! I'm really trying to make August even bigger. We'll see if that happens tho. lol! What's really funny about me cutting back on YA is that now I'm planning to read a lot of YA in Sept. hahaha! I already missed it. Didn't take me long.

Thanks you so much! I'm so indecisive about picking what the next one is going to be. I need to get motivated soon to start something.

Hope you have a great month too, and happy reading!
