Life Lately:
Not too much has happened this week. lol!  I'm pretty boring.  I got really motivated and pulled all the weeds outside, and cleaned our entire upstairs top to bottom but that's about it.  I've really been a slacker when it comes to reading and my blog.  I've still got all of next week scheduled but I need to start catching up with my reading and the following week's posts.  I spent all day yesterday catching up on visiting other blogs and commenting (when the internet was actually working. Grr!). lol!  I'm trying!  Today I may not be around too much because we are going to my husband's family reunion, but I will try my best to visit all of your weekend posts as well.

I'm trying something a little different this week.  I decided to ask YOU what I should read in September.  I haven't been getting many ARCs because I've been trying to give myself some time to get to some of the great books I already own.  I've made I list of 10 books that I own that I really want to read, and made a poll so you can vote on which ones I read next.  I REALLY hope the poll works because this is the first time I've ever tried it. lol.  You can pick more than one book because I would like to read 4-5 of the top picks!  The poll ends on 8/31.  I'm really excited to see what you guys pick!

What should I read in September?

  1. Sounds like you've had a busy week. Don't worry too much about not reading, sometimes you just need a break between books.
Best of luck at the family reunion, hopefully reading and blogging gets better for you next week.

    1. Yeah, I feel like I may have burned myself out a little bit with reading. I'm trying to get back on track now. Thanks so much Aneta Bak!

  2. Hope you have fun at the reunion! I LOVED Simon Vs. so that's the one I voted for - plus, you have to be ready for the movie, right? ;) I have Gentlemen's Guide to read soon too. I'm trying to read more of my own books too!

    1. The reunion was a lot of fun. Everyone seems to have loved Simon so I'm really excited about that one. I had no idea there was going to be a movie!! I better get on that one then. lol I'll have to look that up. Good luck with reading books that you already own too! Hope you are having a great weekend!

  3. Oh man I am so behind with my blog!! So many reviews to write and posts to draft! It is so nice to get to books you own and want to read. Plus I love voting for things! Hope you have a great week!

    1. I try to write reviews for books that I have finished before starting a new one. I think that helps keep it fresh in my mind. And it forces me to write them! lol. I don't always stick to that but I try. Voting for things is so much fun, isn't it?! lol! I'm so glad the poll worked. I have so much fun voting for them on other people's blogs so I wanted to give it a try on mine. Thanks, Grace! I hope you have a great week too!

  4. I vote for When Dimple Met Rishi because it was so cute, but my second choice would be Alex, Approximately because I so love Jenn Bennett, but I haven't read that book yet. I'm really behind on posts and reading, too. I was away on vacation and didn't get much reading or blog visiting done. Hope you have fun at your husband's family reunion! :)

    1. I've heard a lot of great things about When Dimple Met Rishi, so I was really hoping people would pick that one. lol! Alex, Approximately sounds like one I will really love too. Hopefully we can both get some reading and posts done soon! Sometimes it's really hard to find time. Thanks so much! Hope you have a great week!

  5. Good for you for not adding a bunch of review books again this week! Sometimes you just need a break from reading and it sounds like you are getting things done. Have a great week, Julie!

    1. I'm still trying really hard not to go crazy with ARCs again. I have sooo many books that I own that I want to read. I got so much done last week! I'm hoping I can keep things straightened up in the house and somehow still manage to find a little time for reading and playing with my 4 year old. There isn't enough time in the day! lol. I've also been wanting to start a new painting. Thanks, Carole! I hope you have a great week too!

  6. Our house has so much that needs doing-the kitchen is a right mess! I want it totally deep cleaned for my nice new gadgets to live in and rearranged which means going through the cupboards and getting rid of everything we don't use. Plus we need a new sofa and carpet for the living room and new shelf units to help get things tidy. Time and physical health are hampering things though! Gah! Need to get on it this week as time is ticking and I want a relaxing winter!

    1. Our house is always a work in progress. I feel like anything I get super organized gets messed up as soon as I turn my back because I have a crazy 4 year old. lol. I still want to tackle the basement before winter comes. Eventually we need to either get new carpet or just stick with the hardwood underneath. Carpet is so hard to keep clean around here! I hope you start feeling better soon! It's so hard to get things done when you aren't feeling well. Good luck with all of your projects!

  7. Slow weeks where you don't do that much are good. I mean, it sounds like you've done the jobs I would normally put off. Cleaning and anything involving the garden are just chores. I know you need to do it but do I have to? I hate when the internet doesn't cooperate as well. It normally happens when I am so ready to get things done with my blog and it just goes out on me.

I love the poll on what to read. I voted for Alex Approximately, Simon and When Dimple Met Rishi simply because I've read and enjoyed those recently. They are brilliant books.

    1. Yeah, I kept pushing all of those things aside for quite a while so it took me a lot of work to catch back up. I'm hoping I can keep it somewhat clean so I don't have to work so hard at it for a while. lol! But I have a 4 year old so that is definitely wishful thinking. Internet issues drive me crazy. I'm horrible. I have no patience for any of it. My husband is awesome and rescued me by showing me how to turn my phone into a mobile hotspot, so that was cool. lol.

So glad you love the poll! I always enjoy them on other people's blogs so I figured I would give one a try. I'm excited to see what people pick! You picked some of the ones that I'm most excited about! haha They all sound so good so I will be happy no matter what. Thanks Becky! Hope you have a great week!

  8. Good for you weeding and doing housework! I admire you, lol ;) I hate working in the garden, but I do love inside cleaning.

I voted for Six of Crows and When Dimple Met Rishi :) SOC is AMAZING, and although I haven't read WDMR, it also looks so good.

Hope you have a lovely week, Julie!

    1. haha I'm horrible with keeping up with housework, so it was way past time for me to catch up. I do love the way everything looks when it's all clean and organized tho. Clutter and mess stress me out.

I've heard nothing but positive things about WDMR. I'm super excited for that one. Six of Crows is one that everyone has told me that I need to try.

Hope you have a great week too!

  9. I like your poll - a fun idea! I really am hoping to read Dimple Met Rishi before summer's end. I heard great things. I am also hoping to read Alex, Approximately, but I am not sure if I will have time. I love the synopsis for that one. Have a great week!

  10. Teach me your arc-request-controlling ways, please. I've gotten so bad lately. D:
I like those boring weeks tbh! I'd much rather have a boring week than an eventful one, but that's me, lol! Good luck with catching up on blog stuff! :)
And ahhh your poll! Can't you just read ALL of them! Because they are all good haha! But anyways, I went with Dimple, Alex and Gentlemen's. I can so see you loving them! :)
    Have a great week ahead!

    1. hahaha!! I'm still trying really hard to read what I already have for a while, but I'm sure I will add a couple ARCs here and there. lol! Boring weeks are exactly what we need sometimes. I keep looking around my house and smiling because it's so clean and organized. lol! I love it. I'm trying to keep up with it so it stay nice but I doubt it will happen. I also need to find the time to catch up on writing blog posts and reading. Not enough hours in the day!!
I put 10 of the books that I was the most excited about on the poll so I would be happy no matter what. haha! I can't wait to see what everyone decides on. I definitely want to read them all but I don't think I will have time. Thanks for voting!! I hope you have a great week and happy reading!

  11. You always find the best Kindle freebies! I admire your determination with not accepting/requesting ARCs. I need some of that in my life lol As for your poll, I fully endorse reading Alex, Approximately! I loved, loved, loved that one. I haven't read any of the others you listed yet....however, Gentleman's Guide & Savage Song are high on my TBR list a well. Happy reading, and have a great week, Julie! :)

So glad you enjoyed Alex, Approximately! It looks like a great summer read and I'm not quite ready to let go of summer. lol! Thanks, Lauren! I hope you have a great week too! And Happy reading!
