Giving true love a spin . . .

Michelin Moses is a country music star on the rise. With a hit single under his Texas-sized belt buckle and a sold-out concert tour underway, his childhood dreams of making it big are finally coming true. But there’s one thing missing—a promise to his dying mother that he’d find it—him—when the time was right. With a little luck, he won’t have to wait too long . . .

Lucky Ramirez is a hunky boy toy who dances at The Broom Closet, one of West Hollywood’s hottest gay bars. He loves what he does, and he’s good at it—almost as good as he is at playing dumb when he spots Michelin Moses at the bar. What happens next is off the charts—and keeps Michelin coming back for more. He’s just not sure it’s the right move for his career. But if Lucky gets his way, Michelin will get Lucky—and no matter how the media spins it, neither of them will be faking it . . .

My Rating:
4 out of 5 stars

My Review:
Michelin Moses is a country music star that has been living in the closet his whole life. He's afraid that if he reveals his sexuality than it could affect his career. While out celebrating a friend's birthday in a gay bar he meets a dancer named Lucky. A couple of Lucky's trouble making co-workers take a photo of the two of them kissing and sell the story to the papers claiming that Michelin was attempting to pay for sex with him. Michelin's publicist comes up an idea for Lucky to pose as Michelin's boyfriend until it all dies down. Lucky agrees but the lines between pretend and real start to blur.

I have to admit that Michelin's personality surprised me in this book. We've seen him a little bit in the first two books but I wasn't expecting such a shy and almost innocent personality. Not that it was bad, it just surprised me! I really enjoyed the two of these guys together because they are such opposites. Michelin is the quiet, keep to himself, type and Lucky is the complete opposite. I really liked that Lucky stood up for himself and tried to do things for himself but I'm glad that he learned the balance of accepting help too. There were multiple times when I wanted to shake Michelin and tell him to stick up for himself when it came to his label and publicist. I've read all the books in this series and this was probably my favorite of all three.

“I know when a man's heart belongs elsewhere.”

Denver Hayes is almost as proud to be a NYPD detective as he is of his daughter, though he and her mother divorced three years ago. He's been partners and best friends with Eugenio for years. Through thick and thin, they always have each other's backs, and there's no one else Denver trusts more with his life. But Denver's desire for more than a bromance with his partner just won't go away.

"You can't just use me like that."

Detective Eugenio Mendes is a tough cop who likes gallows humor but loves his expressive, outgoing family – and he counts his cop partner, Denver, as family, too. He's been best friends with Denver for so long that he's never considered pursuing something more... besides which, he's straight. Still, there's something different about their relationship. If only he could figure out what it is.

There was murder in his eyes.

When Eugenio's cousin comes to them bruised and desperate for help, the detectives spring into action. The tension of their job leads to a sudden passion between them that they never saw coming. Can they get past the confusion and lust to become something more? Or will the harsh reality of this case and Internal Affairs destroy their future together as partners in every sense?

My Rating:
4 out of 5 stars

My Review:
This is only the second Casey Ashwood book I've read, and I enjoyed this one even more than the last one.  I'm such a huge sucker for friends to lovers stories.  The fact that they are cops/partners is even better!  This is a GFY (gay for you) style romance that is going to be part of a new series, but can be read as a stand alone and has a HEA ending.

Eugenio is a straight man that recently has been looking at his partner in a new way.  He's heard from multiple people that he talks about his partner nonstop, so when a woman ends their date by saying that she can see that his heart lies elsewhere he decides he wants to give things a try with Denver.  He doesn't always say or do the right things, but you can tell how much he cares about those closest to him.

Denver has been harboring feelings for Eugenio for quite a while, but never makes a move because he "knows" Eugenio is straight, and he doesn't want to lose his best friend.  Denver has been with people that have wanted him to go back in the closet and doesn't want to be in that situation again. He has gotten to the point in his life where he wants a serious relationship, someone that will love him and his daughter. He is really understanding and patient with Eugenio as they get used to their new feelings for each other.

While trying to navigate their new relationship they end up with a case that is very personal for Eugenio.  His cousin has been keeping a few secrets and has gotten himself into a tough position and into a dangerous, violent relationship.

I'm really looking forward to the next book in this series!  I can't wait to see what Casey Ashwood comes up with next.

Release Day Review: Fearless by Kimberly Kincaid

Title: Fearless
Author: Kimberly Kincaid
Series: Rescue Squad, #2
Genre: M/F Romance
Publisher: Zebra
Publication Date: July 26th 2016
Find It Here: Goodreads, Amazon, Barnes & Noble

The Temperature Is Rising…

Firefighter Cole Everett's life revolves around the firehouse. Committed to saving lives--and to the guys who always have his back in the most dangerous moments on the job--Cole's focus is a coveted spot on the Fairview Rescue Squad. When his captain asks him to mentor a rookie firefighter, he jumps at the chance, hoping it will help to prove his skill. But the new "guy" is none other than Savannah Nelson, a female firefighter as stubbornly determined as Cole is, and a whole lot curvier in all the right places . . .

Savannah won't let anyone extinguish her dream of fulfilling her family legacy and becoming a top notch firefighter--and she's happily surprised when strong-willed, sexy Cole is willing to give her the chance she deserves. Concentrating on the job isn't always easy when the heat between them flares higher every day, but Savannah won't give up--not even when one of Station Eight's veterans seems bent on trashing her reputation. To stop a string of possible arsons, Savannah and Cole will need to eliminate every distraction--but can they let their love go up in flames?

My Rating:
4 out of 5 stars

My Review:
I love a good firefighter romance so it was fun to see the spin on the typical and have both the male MC and female MC being firefighters. This was a "slow burn" type of romance, so they don't go jumping into bed together right away. There are a couple love sex scenes but this book focused more on story building than making you sweat.

Savannah's attitude really wore on me after a while. I love a female character that isn't a doormat but she just tried too hard to be "tough". She REALLY played out the sexism card too. There was a character in the book who makes it known that he doesn't care for her being part of the crew but she had the attitude even before then. She is also an extremely impulsive person and doesn't think before acting or speaking most of the time.

Cole is pretty much the opposite. He prides himself on keeping his cool and planning things out. He stays calm and collected, which unfortunately comes across to Savannah as emotionless. He's very dedicated to his firehouse family and is serious about getting Savannah ready for the job.

This book was the second in the series but it can be read as a standalone. I did not read the first one in the series but I didn't feel as if I was missing any super important information. The characters from the first book appear in this one as well. I will probably go back and read the first one since I really enjoyed this one.

Kindle Unlimited: Falling by Sierra Riley

Title: Falling
Author: Sierra Riley
Genre: M/M Romance
Publication Date:
Find It Here: Goodreads, Amazon

“You’re the best fake boyfriend I ever had.”
“Love exists… in books, at least.”

There’s no way bookstore owner Jeremy Bennett is going to his ten-year class reunion after accidentally drunk-posting on the reunion’s Facebook page and making himself sound a) much more interesting than he actually is, by b) claiming to do the kind of things he actually only reads about, and c) worse, also claiming to have a super hot boyfriend, when in reality, d) his dating history is more like the bastard love child of a trainwreck and a what-not-to-do reality show.

“I’m no good at romance.”

When one of Nick Roberts’ personal training clients mistakes him for the boyfriend of a new gym member, Nick decides to play along on a whim. After all, he can’t let the guy die from embarrassment, and besides, even though Nick isn’t gay, he has a feeling that the story behind the mistaken identity might prove to be the most fun he’s had since moving to Tulsa.

“I went from faking it to feeling it. Don’t tell me this isn’t real.”

Falling for your fake boyfriend is a guaranteed dating fail. Unless the stars align…

My Rating:
4 out of 5 stars

My Review:
Jeremy is a bookstore owner who reads a ton of romance novels but has trouble finding his own happily ever after.  He's watched all of his friends find love and he can't wait to find "The One" for himself.

Nick was so perfect for Jeremy even with his "flaw".  I liked that he wasn't absolutely perfect and how they handled him learning to accept his disability and not be embarrassed by it.  I absolutely loved his daughter Ava.  She's got spunk!

I felt as if this story may have been a little longer than Sierra Riley's other books, but that could just be me.  I am also used to more steamy scenes in her stories (I think there were only 2 or 3?) BUT I found myself not minding at all because they were so sweet together.  I did think that Nick's transition from being straight to intimately being with Jeremy maybe happened a little too easily, even if he did have a gay best friend growing up.

This book isn't listing on Goodreads as being part of a series, but it actually is and we see characters from a few of Sierra Riley's other stories.  I would still consider this book a standalone though.  After reading Sierra Riley's last book, I was REALLY hoping we were going to get Jeremy's story, and I'm so glad we did.  Now I'm hoping for Cash's and/or Cash's stories! lol  Fingers crossed! Sierra Riley has me hooked!

After a decade of serving in the Army, everyone still expects me to be Dominic 'Nicky' Costigan--the skirt-chasing player. They don't know I've been spending my days trying to figure out my post-military life. Including how to pick up guys.

When I meet Luke on a hookup app, he makes it clear it's for one-night only. That's fine with me, because I'm down to see what this silver fox can do. But after I arrive at his doorstep, it doesn't take long to realize we have serious chemistry, and we end up meeting again.

He's got more walls around his heart than a military base, but I think he's as addicted to me as I am to him. He can't resist me for long. I mean, who can? Except Luke's rules exist for a reason, and when I test his limits, things get complicated. Maybe too complicated.

My Rating:
5 out of 5 stars

My Review:
I went into this one not knowing if I was going to like this one and ended up loving it.  When we first meet Dominic in the first book, he's a bit of a jerk.  I went into this one fully expecting to hate him.  Imagine my surprise when I ended up loving him and this book even more than the first one in the series.  Megan Erickson is one of those authors on my auto-buy list.  I love everything she writes, and this one didn't disappoint.

Dominic still has a little bit of that cockiness from the first book and definitely still crack the jokes, but in this one we start to see a different side of him.  While on the outside he may appear cocky and sure of himself, on the inside he has no idea what he should be doing with his life and is worried about his family.  I loved his lighthearted personality and thought he was adorable.

Luke is 12 years older than Dominic and a lot more closed off than Dominic is.  He lives his personal life by a set of rules that keep him from getting close to anyone.  I wasn't sure how I felt about Luke at first because he wasn't the nicest to Dominic and it made me mad.  But as the book continued and he started to open up, I really liked him too.  He is fiercely protective of the ones he loves.

I loved that Megan Erickson included the couple from the first story in this one because it's always nice to see them again.  This book is the second in the series but can be read as a standalone.  Personally, I would say to read the first one in the series first so you get a feel for all of the characters in this one.  There are plenty of sizzling scenes and the Grindr chats had me smiling like a goof.  I would definitely recommend this one.

As he and Skylar get closer, their impending separation starts to affect the both of them. Will they do what it takes to be together?

My Rating:
2.5 out of 5 stars

My Review:
I had a really hard time getting into this one. I'm not sure what it was about it, but something about the way it was written pulled me out of the story. I felt like we were told about everything but not being "shown" anything, does that make sense? The writing felt choppy to me in the beginning but I felt like it got a bit better as the story went on. This was definitely a love at first sight type of romance which doesn't always work for me, but that's my own personal preference.

The story was written in an alternating persons perspective, but I didn't feel like we got to know Ryan as well as Skylar.  What I did learn about Ryan was that he seemed very innocent and smitten with Ryan right away, and that he was also a virgin when they were first together.  They didn't really make a big deal about it in the story tho. This story felt a bit rushed and like things were happening very quickly for the MCs and things just always seemed to work out in their favor, completely unbelievably at times.  This wasn't what I would call a bad story, it's just probably not one that I would recommend, I'm sorry to say.

My Rating:
3 out of 5 stars

My Review:
There were some things that I really liked and other things I didn't care for quite as much. At first the the whole angry banter between the two of them was fun, but after a while I just felt like enough is enough. There were a lot of really steamy scenes between the two of them but when it came to them starting to get feelings, I thought it felt a little forced. I thought the author did a great job with their back stories and helping you to understand why they are enemies at the beginning of the story.

“I know I shouldn’t have done that.” His breath was hot in the chilled air. “But I can’t keep my hands off you. I can’t keep my lips off you. Every time I’m near you it feels like the worst and best decision I’ve ever made.”

This book is the second book in the "Most Likely To" series, but it can be read as a standalone. I read the first book in the series as well and it was kind of fun to see the first couple again and see the events at the reunion from another perspective.  I didn't enjoy this one quite as much as the first one, unfortunately.  This was a fun quick read, but probably not something that I will remember a couple months from now.

He’s the man she loves to hate . . .

Olivia Kane’s wedding day has just imploded spectacularly. Shots lined up at the bar? Bring it. Hot stranger on the hook? Come on down. What this party does not need is six feet and change of home-grown Texas cockiness in the form of her brother’s best friend, the man who broke her heart seven years ago.

She’s the woman he has to have . . .

Flynn Cross won’t stand by while Liv finds sensual solace in the arms of a stranger, not when his own hard-for-her body is more than up for the task. For one week, he’ll make her honeymoon-for-one a sizzling party for two.

Breaking the rules, one steamy night at a time . . .

But the taboo they’re breaking is only the beginning . . . and Flynn’s part in Liv’s wedding debacle could bring about their end.

My Rating:
3 out of 5 stars

My Review:
I normally absolutely love anything by Kate Meader but for some reason I didn't end up loving this as much as I thought I would. I really liked the brother's best friend aspect, but I didn't end up liking the characters personalities. This book was the third in the Tall, Dark, and Texan series and can be read as a stand alone. After reading other reviews, people said you get to see Olivia and Flynn in the second book, so maybe I missed a little more from them there and it may have made me enjoy this one more? It's possible! I actually just bought the second in the series to give it a try.

Olivia, or Livvie as Flynn liked to call her, had a nasty attitude ALL THE TIME. I like my snarky characters, don't get me wrong, but she was a bit overkill. I also felt like she was extremely childish a lot of the time.

I wanted to like Flynn because it's good to have someone to root for but in the end I didn't feel like he learned anything at all from his mistakes. He keeps a lot of secrets and makes Olivia's decisions for her and I don't care for that.

I did, however, think that Olivia and Flynn had explosive chemistry. Kate Meader definitely knows how to write hot sex scenes and the tension between the two of them was sizzling. I love a good dirty talking alpha type. Olivia was not the shy type at all either so she dished it back at him a few times, and I loved it.

Series: Fated Hearts, #6

I’d often felt lost in the shadow of my older brother, Sebastian Blake. People either ran from me in fear or tried to use me to get to him. In my struggle to forge my own path, I’d taken a wrong turn a time or two, which nearly cost me my life. It’s true that what doesn’t kill you can make you stronger, but that doesn’t mean I wasn’t filled with self-doubt and questioned my worthiness of being loved.

The minute I met Tomas Sarantos, I knew there was something special between us. I felt a connection to him that I’d never felt with anyone else, but I sadly watched the heat fade from his eyes the minute he learned who I was. My only choices were to accept his offer of friendship or nothing at all.

Tom became the best friend I’d ever had and I fell deeper in love with him every day. I died a little bit inside every time he talked about the love he was hoping to find and the family he wanted to have with someone else. My heart screamed at me to tell him that his search was over and that I was right there in front of him. Yet, I held my tongue and battled myself daily for over a year to hide my feelings from him. I lacked the courage to make a move, no matter how tired I was of denying my feelings for him.
* * *
I finally had everything I’d dreamed of when I accepted the position of CFO at Blake Industries – well, almost everything. I still hadn’t found the man I wanted to build a life with, until I met Wesley King. He was everything I ever wanted, but he was also the one I could never have. Dating in the workplace was risky enough, but falling in love with the CEO’s only brother was professional suicide. Too bad my heart wasn’t in agreement.

Wesley became the most important person in my life, the one I shared everything with except the one thing I wanted to give him – my heart. For an entire year, I tried to talk myself out of loving him and focused my efforts on finding someone attainable. I probably set a world record for dating disasters and all that I accomplished was to make me want Wesley even more.

Then life threw me a curveball and made me reevaluate everything. I could either take a chance that Wesley still felt the spark I once saw in him or continue on being miserable in the “friend zone.” It would either be the happiest time of my life or the most mortifying, but I’d never know unless I tried.

My Rating:
5 out of 5 stars

My Review:
Aimee Nicole Walker is my favorite M/M Romance author. Anything she writes I will buy and devour in one day.  Always You is the sixth book in the Fated Hearts series. It can be read as part of the series or as a standalone novel. Always You also includes the return of Sebastian and Adam Blake from the novel Only You. I've read every one of the books in the series and also Only You, and loved every single one of them.

We met Sebastian and Adam in "Only You". Here we have Sebastian's brother, Wesley.  Wesley has some emotional baggage from dealing with his past drug addiction and his homophobic father.  Tom is ready to settle down and start a family but the only person he seems to want is Wesley, but he is the bosses little brother so that puts him firmly in the friend zone. I loved the friendship between Tom and Wesley so much. Their playful banter had me cracking up on more than one occasion.

When Sebastian finally gives Tom the "go ahead" things got steamy. They have insane chemistry together.  Tom tries to take things slowly between them, but Wesley has been waiting a long time and doesn't want to move as slowly.

“He’s given me the green light to pursue what I want most in the world on two conditions.”

“W -what conditions?” His nervous stammering was fucking adorable.

“We keep our personal relationship away from the office and that he’ll hunt me down and kill me if I hurt you.” I rubbed the tip of my nose against his and embraced the soft sigh that escaped Wesley’s mouth. “One of those will be so fucking hard to do and the other one will be a piece of cake. Guess which one I’ll struggle with, Wes.” My fingers itched to touch him, to press against his bare flesh and file them away in my memory. “I want to kiss you so fucking bad, but a promise is a promise.” The elevator pinged and I stepped away from him.

Aimee Nicole Walker writes an amazing romance but she also tugs on your heart strings with issues such as Cancer, Addiction, Suicide, and Depression. She makes you feel the strength, struggles, and hope that the characters go through.  Another great addition to the series that left me smiling long after it was over.

As Dom and Trey risk everything to begin a secret affair, there’s no denying their chemistry is off the charts – but could their band rivalry turn their romance into a one-hit wonder?

My Rating:
4 out of 5 stars

My Review:
I’m going to start by stating that there is a lot of angsty drama in this novel. There are several characters in the book that have major baggage, including: physical, emotional, and sexual abuse in their pasts. None of this takes place in the present time in the story, but one character’s past abuse is discussed in a bit of detail, so be forewarned if any of these issues is a trigger for you. Normally I have a very hard time reading any book that has rape involved but I felt as if this one was handled well.

I ended up taking off one star because I felt as if there was just TOO much drama at times. There was always something going on and at times it just felt like too much.  There were a couple different moments in the story when I wanted to shake one of the MCs but at least we weren't left hanging long with the conflicts. I really enjoyed the band competition theme even tho it's one that I've read before.  It was still a lot of fun. Can't wait to read the next one!!

Getting experience with the guy next door seems like a great idea—until the lines blur.

If they’re going to turn their lessons in lovemaking into something more permanent, they need to work out how they feel about each other—before they get to the end of Dev’s list.

My Rating:
4 out of 5 stars

My Review:
Practice Makes Perfect was the third book in the Housemates series but it was my favorite of all three.  It is a standalone but you do see characters from the previous books, so you would get that benefit from reading the other ones first, but it's not necessary.  From the very beginning when Dev is going through his list, I couldn't get the smile off my face. These two guys together are so insanely adorable and perfect. This book was the definition of sweet and sexy.

I loved Dev.   He is geeky, adorably awkward, and a virgin. He likes his life to be orderly, which is why he compulsively makes lists for everything.  Dev's lists, awful cooking skills and his honest-to-a-fault ways are just part of what makes his character so special.

Ewan comes across Dev's Grindr profile and is horrified at his naïveté. He offers up himself to help Dev gain sexual experience, for completely unselfish reasons...really! Heh.  It's only responsible to offer a safer alternative right?? Right. But really, he is great and a perfect match for Dev. And that moment when he gets all protective of Dev and stands up for him in that café.  Swoon..

“What do you want from me, Dev? In an ideal world, what would we be to each other?”
That was an easy question for Dev to answer. “Boyfriends.”
Ewan’s face split into a smile that made Dev’s knees weak. “I’d like that too.”

The chemistry between Dev and Ewan was sizzling.  Jay Northcote has a gift for writing some of the hottest sex scenes in M/M romance.  Steam factor aside, I think Dev and Ewan may be one of my favourite Northcote M/M couples yet!   I loved how smoothly the transition from friends-with-benefits to the guys developing feelings for each other happened. It just flowed. The angst here is super light, with a small amount of miscommunication towards the end which is sorted out in quickly, followed by a super sweet HEA.

"He needed to see Dev lose control, wanted Dev to be desperate like Ewan was, to see that cool
scrutiny slip as Dev was swept along with Ewan."
