My Bookish Art: Black Widow

Friday, May 19, 2017

This is the third painting of mine that I've shared so far on my blog.  The first time I shared my art I showed you my Game of Thrones paintings (Daenerys and Jon Snow).  The second art post I shared was from The Notebook.  I decided to go a little bit of a different direction with my bookish art this time around, and share my painting of Black Widow from Marvel Comics.  Although, technically this portrait isn't really from the actual comics but from The Avengers movie so that may be cheating.  I'm a HUGE comic book nerd so I've done portraits of quite a few comic characters including: Iron Man/Tony Stark, Wolverine, Hulk, Groot & Rocket (from Guardians of the Galaxy),  Catwoman, and Nancy Callahan (Sin City).  I'm trying to decide which one to share next.

What do you think?

Do you read comics?  If so, who is your favorite character?

  2. Wow, you are so talented! I love Black Widow because she's outnumbered by all these men yet she's still totally bad-ass - and she doesn't need superpowers or too many gadgets!

    1. YES! She is awesome! It's great having tough female characters. And I agree, she is especially awesome because she doesn't actually have any powers. Thanks so much, Angela! <3

    1. Thank you so much! Ohhhh the Joker!!! That's one I haven't painting yet! He's such a great character. I will have to give that a shot one of these days. I just have to figure out which version of the joker I should do! Jack Nicholson, Heath Ledger, Jared Leto...hmmmm.. Thanks for the idea! I will definitely share Tony Stark/Iron Man! I was going to do Wolverine next but I'll just switch them around. lol!

  12. That girls is fierce, would want to be a baddie to have to mess with her. I used to be a huge comic nerd myself in my teens. I Luv all the TV heroes like batman and hulk and those oldies. The New ones are so many though I can't seen to keep up

    Have a nice weekend

    Much love...

This was a style that I was trying for a long time. Sometimes I still do them this way, but I've started to try a more realistic style now. I like to go back and forth tho. It keeps things interesting. lol Thanks, Irene!

I think I remember who you are talking about but for some reason I'm completely blanking on her name. I'll have to ask my husband. He's the comic expert. lol

  19. I'm a little late (AGAIN!) but I'm HERE!

I love so many of the characters that you've mentioned so I'm super excited to see your next batch of artwork too!

Black Widow is one of my favourite Avengers characters and as I haven't read the comics I'm glad you went with the movie version! Plus Scar Jo? Awesome. :)

The only comics I really used to read a lot of was The Phantom when I was a kid. :)

Thanks so much for sharing your awesomeness and I can't wait to see more. How far are you with your bookish art for sale???

I love Scarlet Johansson. I think she is gorgeous. And she plays such a bad ass Black Widow.

I STILL haven't put any of it up for sale because I'm a giant chicken. lol! I keep going back and forth about Etsy vs Society 6. Society 6 is great because it's a lot less work on my side of things BUT I don't get much of the profit. Etsy gives me most of the profit but I have to worry about packaging it and sending it out and all that.
