Life Lately:
This has been kind of a crazy week again.  We had a going away party for my husband's friend, who is going to Germany.  Our bank account got hacked somehow and now the account is frozen until we get a new card in the mail.  Aaaand of course we hadn't gotten to go grocery shopping yet, and carry no cash.  So that stinks.  I'm not sure how much we are even going to be able to get back.  It's really scary and frustrating.  On a happy note, we had a "Family Fun Day" at our daughter's PreK and she had a really great time.  I think that helped relieved some of her nerves when it comes to school.

As you can see from my books above, I failed at my "book freeze" this week. lol!  I didn't go completely crazy but I probably shouldn't have even gotten these ones. lol.  I'm going to use the excuse that my husband brought me to a book store (before the account hacking problem) so I couldn't say no! Also, EVERYONE told me I needed to pick up Amy & Roger's Epic Detour when I shared my "10 Books Involving Road Trips" post.  So TECHNICALLY, you all can share the blame, right?! haha!  Just kidding!  This was all me.  I need all of the books!!

I've actually already read Scorpio Hates Virgo, and Crashed is one that I've been wanting to read to finish out the series.  They had a "second look" request and I swooped in and snatched it up. lol!  It will feel good to check another full series off my list when I read that one.

I've been dealing with some stress migraines throughout the week so I've been really behind with visiting blogs.  I'm going to try to catch up soon.  I promise!!

  1. Oh that is crappy with your bank account! We carry no cash so we would be stuck too. So happy to see you got some Morgan Matson books. She is great! Hope your migraines get better. Have a great week!

  2. Oh no, that is horrific with your bank account :( That seriously sucks, I'm so sorry. Hope it gets sorted SOON.

Also hope the stress migraines go away soon. I can relate, and there's nothing worse. Ugh.

Enjoy those books you bought! Sine You've Been Gone looks so good.

    1. Thank you so much! The bank account stuff is really frustrating and horrible. We got a new bank card now but we are still waiting for them to work through our account and see what money we can get back.

Stress migraines are awful. As if the pain isn't enough, it just has to come with nausea. Ugghh!

Thank you! I'm excited to give these books a try. I've heard great things about Morgan Matson.

Hope you have a great week!

  3. I really liked Since You've Been Gone by Morgan Matson, and I've heard that Amy and Roger's Epic Detour is one of her best books! I would really like to see what you're planning on reading in September. I have no idea what to pick because there are too many new releases I want to get too!
I'm really glad you are doing the TMI Tag soon too! :)

  4. We've had our online CC hacked so many times I can't even count anymore.

We keep a card with a low limit just for online purchases for just this reason. I can't imagine not being able to access any of my money or have that stolen. I'm so sorry that happened.

    1. That's a really great idea actually! We should probably start doing that. We have our cards now but we are still waiting to see how much they give back.

  5. Sorry about the bank account! That's awful. I've had my card used before, but it didn't take too before I could access my money. I hope it gets all cleared up soon!

That's awesome you got Amy & Roger though; that's a favorite of mine.

    1. Thank you! It has been really stressful. We have new cards now but all of the money that was taken hasn't been returned yet so we are still a bit low. Thankfully we have enough for groceries and things to get by for a while until they sort it out

Everyone has been telling me that I need to check out Epic Detour. lol! I'm really excited to pick that one up soon

  7. Nah, blame the bloggers too. We make good scapegoats since we're all in the same boat ha ha. I don't know if I'm physically able to go into a bookstore and not get something lol. Sorry to hear about the hack! That happened to us a few months ago, luckily we caught it in time and it wasn't bad, but it could have been. Asshole hackers. Hope you have a good week and no headaches!

    1. hahaha!! So true! I even told my husband it was the bloggers fault. lol He just laughs because he is just as bad as me, but with comics instead of books. I'm hoping the bank gets everything sorted soon and we can get all of our money back. We've got our new cards now. Thanks Greg!

  8. I'm sorry to hear about your bank account, that's absolutely awful! I hope you get your new card soon!
I haven't read any Morgan Matson books but Amy and Roger's looks amazing! I can never leave a bookstore without buying anything, it's like a law of nature to me! :) I hope you'll enjoy all the books you got and happy reading!

  9. Oh man! That sounds so stressful about the bank account being hacked. I'm glad they are fixing the situation though. This is like a lesson for me too to keep some cash on hand at all times. Hope you figured out the grocery situation.
Yay for new books! You can blame bloggers sure! ;) I'm excited to hear your thoughts on the Morgan Matson ones especially! Those two are my favorites from her.
    Have a good week, Julie!

    1. It has been really stressful. I haven't been able to sleep and I've been getting migraines worrying about it. Uggh! I hope it all is over soon. We got our new cards and were able to buy some groceries, so that's good news. lol
haha I totally did blame it on my blogger friends when my husband saw the books in my hand. It doesn't actually care because he is just as addicted to comics as I am to my books. So glad to hear that you loved the ones I picked out!

      Thanks Nick!

  10. I feel your pain for the bank account hack, someone cloned my card last week and tried to spend £300 I don't have. Thankfully, my bank is on the ball and didn't let the payments go through and blocked my card straight away, but I then had to wait for my new card to come through. I've never been so glad to own a credit card.

Glad you had a good day at PreK with your daughter, though. You forget how scary school can be for kids so glad it allayed some of her nerves.

You kind of do need both those Morgan Matson books, they're brilliant and you won't regret. We all need to break a spending freeze occasionally.

I hope you have a good week this week, enjoy your new books.

    1. Oh no! You too?!?! So crazy! I'm glad your bank was awesome and stopped that before it was really bad. Our bank caught our too. We didn't notice at first because they were only taking out small amounts at first, but then they started getting more bold. Ugghh!

She's so excited to start school now. I'm excited for her. And it will also be nice to get a couple hours of alone time. haha!

haha!! Thanks! I knew my blogger friends would have my back with those Matson books. lol

Thanks, I hope you have a great week too! Happy reading!

  11. Oh my goodness, that is incredibly stressful! I am going to check my account right now. So inconvenient too, given you have to, like, LIVE, and need money and access to your account. Hopefully everything is working out?

Ahhh, I see you got some review copies! :D You were doing really well anyway, treat yo self. I hope you enjoy all of your new books!

Have a wonderful week, Julie. =)

    1. It's really stressful waiting to see if we are going to be able to get some of that back. We got our new cards back so we were able to get some groceries but we really need some of that money back for bills. Fingers crossed!

haha! I did really well with my freeze so I figured it wouldn't be too bad if I picked up a couple. I just don't want to go way overboard like I was for a while there. I buried myself and I'm still working on finding my way out. lol

Hope you have a great week too, Alyssa!

  12. It is horrible when your account is hacked and if you don't carry cash, its just horrible. I have had this happen to me, so now I always carry cash on me for groceries every week. Just in case. Because its not like you get your card in 24 hours. It takes a while sometimes. Hope you get access to your account soon. *hugs*

    1. That's a really good idea. We never really have cash on us so we were really stuck there for a couple days. We have our new cards but not all of our money back. The bank is still looking into it for us. Thanks so much! <3

    1. hahaha! Yeah, I broke my freeze this week. I'm still going to try to hold off on ARCs for the most part by I may still add some here and there.

The account mess has been so stressful. We're still waiting to see what we are able to get back.

  14. That's horrible about your bank account being hacked. I've luckily (*knocks on wood*) never had that happen, but a lot of my friends/family have and it's been a pain to get everything resolved. Hopefully, they're won't be too many issues/road blocks! I'm ecstatic to see you got Amy & Roger's Epic Detour. It's seriously such an amazing book (all this talk about it makes me want to go back and read it lol) so I hope you love it! I haven't read Since You've Been Gone, though, so I'll be curious to hear your thoughts on it. Happy reading, and have a great week! :)

I can't wait to read Amy & Roger's Epic Detour. So many people have said that I need to check it out since I love road trip stories.

Hope you have a great week too! Happy reading!

  15. Trying to do a ton of catch up - AGAIN! It seems like life has been a little crazy for everyone lately though!

I cannot believe your bank account got hacked! Oh my goodness! How awful and how violating! I'm so sorry. I hope it is sorted soon and that you get everything back.

The family fun day sounds great and I hope your little enjoys PreK when she goes.

I see you're still on a book freeze! I'm feeling slightly more caught up than I was, but still behind so theoretically I shouldn't get books either! There was a bad time there I was getting more ARCs than I was reading books so I've really got to just try to stop for a bit longer.

I'm sad to hear you've had some stress migraines again. :( How has the piercing been holding up in any case?

Chat soon and good luck with your own catch up! xx

    1. hahaha I'm doing the same thing right now. It's been so crazy around here lately. I feel like I'm always catching up. lol

Thank you! The bank account issues have been really stressful. We're still waiting for the bank to sort it out but we do have our new cards now

Our little one is really excited about PreK again..(and so am I!!) lol I could use some "me" time. lol

I'm still trying to stick to the book freeze. I'm working my way through my TBR shelf next month. I have so many great looking ones coming up. I'm excited. I buried myself under ARCs for a while there so I'm going to try to continue to say no. lol

The migraines have been pretty bad this past week, but I've been so stressed and haven't been sleeping so I'm not surprised. I feel like the piercing was helping before all of the stress. haha! I think when I start sleeping better they will fade again.

Thanks Di! Hope you are able to catch up too!
